Get your Grape out of my Apple
I was at HEB today and I walked past the apples and smelled the undeniable aroma of grape lip gloss from my childhood. There was a small box of Grapples, grape flavored apples, in front of me. What a bizarre idea. I had to buy them. They smelled really sweet like grape candy, and I couldn't wait to get home to try one. Get Fit Foods explains how a Grapple is made:
The Grapple is a Washington State Extra Fancy Fuji apple. This is the only apple that currently meets the strict Grapple standards. The Fuji is bathed through a patented process and in a few days the entire apple takes on the essence and mouth-watering taste of Concord grapes. The combination is outstanding.
I wouldn't say this combination is outstanding. It was a nice idea but poor execution. The grape flavor seems very artificial so it just tastes like I'm eating crunchy grape lip gloss. I'm not sure this is Good Eats.Posted by yi at September 28, 2004 6:34 PM
